About us
Who Are We?
- We are Sydney Australia based Astro photo enthusiast who provide professional camera modification/Conversion service to the photographer community. As we are keen Astro/Infrared photographers as you are, we know better what expectation and requirement from photographer community, Hence we can provide professional tailored service to our value customer
What is our service?
- We carefully choose low shutter count great condition DSLRs for Astro/Infrared modifications
- All cameras are modified by trained technician in a dust free environment.
- Focus re-calibration and ensure infinity focus achieved
- All functions (mechanical & electronic) have been tested once modification done.
- Hassle free no further maintenance required (sensors checked for scratches or dead pixels while removing low Pass hot filter)
** You can also bring along your DSLR and we can provide the modification service for you (Contact us for a quote)
How do we modify our cameras?
- DSLRs completely strip down including removing mother board to reach the sensor component
- Remove Low pass filter subject to the modification option
What is the result of modification?
- Once Low Pass Filter 2 removed (Astro Mod), clear result is showing sensor increased H alpha region (656nm - Red channel in Astro photo) pass rate from 25% to 98% (See our modified 650d photo on the right comparing to stock 7D mark ii showing great improvement for nebula Ha region. And also an improved clarity for all Stars & Milky Way as the LPF filter has been removed in front of the sensor)
* Further improvement of sensor performance and clarity can be achieved by removing Low Pass Filter 1 .(Full Spectrum Mod) However, it will require additional IR cut filter in front of the sensor (Eg. Astronomik CLS CCD)
Modification Option 1 - Astro Mod
Low Pass filter 2: removed
This will increase the H alpha region (656nm - Red channel in Astro photo) pass rate from 25% to 98% (See our modified 650d photo comparing to stock 7D mark ii to show great improvement for nebula Ha region. And also an improved clarity for all Stars & Milky Way
as the LPF filter has been removed in front of the sensor)
*Even with LPT-2 removed, camera can still function usual for day time photos. (Just need to use custom whitebalance)
Low Pass filter 1: kept for dust & IR cut purpose.
(Sensor dust cleaning still full function)
Modification Option 2 - Infrared Mod
Low Pass filter 2: removed
This will allow infrared light to have much higher transmission rate to the sensor
Low Pass filter 1: Removed & replaced with IR pass filter
This is to block any visual light frequency below the IR pass filter nominated wavelength so that the “Wood Effect” can be achieved. Together with removing LPF2 filter, this enables the camera to capture infrared photo without the needing of tripod support (shutter speed improved from 10s plus to easy 1/200 so that handhold Infrared photo is achievable)
(630nm Allows some colour through your while 720nm adds more contrast, almost B/W infrared photos)
*As the filter been installed in front of the sensor, all EF lens can be used on this Modified 6D for infrared photos
*Note that as LPF1 removed, camera auto sensor cleaning function will be disabled. Do NOT use sensor cleaning function in future as IR pass filter is replacing the original LPF1)
Modification Option 3 - Full Spectrum Mod
Low Pass filter 2: removed
This will increase the H alpha region (656nm - Red channel in Astro photo) pass rate from 25% to 98% (See our modified 650d photo to compare to stock 7D mark ii to show great improvement for nebula Ha region. And also an improved clarity for all Stars & Milky Way as 2 filters have been removed in front of the sensor)
*As this is a full Spectrum modification, recommend to use together with IR cut filter (eg, Astronomik CLS CCD)
Low Pass filter 1: Removed
Together with removing LPF2 filter, further improvement of sensor performance and clarity can be achieved, however, it will require additional IR cut filter in front of the sensor (Eg. Astronomik CLS CCD) for Astro & DSO photos. By removing LPF1, it also enables the camera to capture infrared photo without the needing of tripod support (Only require IR pass filter at your choice and shutter speed improved from 10s plus to easy 1/200 so that handhold Infrared photo is achievable)
*Note that as LPF1 removed, camera auto sensor cleaning function will be disabled. Do NOT use sensor cleaning function in future as Astronomik Clear Glass is replacing the original LPF1)
